Some of Santa’s Favorite Recipes

Children — PLEASE, do not make these without help from an adult.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe is also known as the "Original Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie".

These cookies are Santa's favorite and at the North Pole they are baked fresh every day.

2-1/4 Cups of All-Purpose Flour
3/4 Cup of Granulated White Sugar (like what is in your sugar bowl)
2 Cups (a 12 ounce package) of Semisweet Chocolate Chips
3/4 Cup of Brown Sugar -- Pack it firm in the measuring cup
1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1 Cup (2 Sticks) of Butter (not margarine) -- Soften it slightly first
2 Eggs -- Beat them up a little in a small bowl with a fork
1 Cup of Chopped Nuts -- Nuts are optional but Santa likes Walnuts

Step 1:  Preheat your oven to 375 Degrees

Step 2:  Combine the flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl

Step 3:  Beat the butter, white sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in a larger mixer bowl until nice and creamy

Step 4:  Add the beaten eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, being sure to mix them into the batter

Step 5:  Slowly add the flour mixture into the batter, mixing it well as you go

Step 6:  Stir the chocolate chips and the nuts into the batter

Step 7:  Use a tablespoon and drop a spoonful of batter onto an ungreased cookie sheet

Step 8:  Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until a nice golden brown

Step 9:  Remove from the oven but leave the cookies on the cookie sheet to cool for 2 minutes, then place them on a wire rack to finish cooling.

Step 10:  Eat a cookie slowly so you enjoy all its wonderful taste and flavor

If you live above 5,200 feet you will need to change the recipe slightly...

Increase the flour to 2-1/2 Cups
Add 2 Teaspoons of Flour
Reduce both the white sugar and the brown sugar to 2/3 Cup each
Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes

Hot Chocolate (Also Known as Cocoa)

This recipe makes 4 servings of 8 ounces each. To make more, simply double the recipe and use a larger pan.

4 Cups of Milk or 2 Cups of Milk and 2 Cups of Half and Half
1/4 Cup of Cocoa Powder
1/4 Cup of Sugar
1/4 Cup of Semisweet Chocolate Chips
3/4 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt

Step 1:  Put all the ingredients into a sauce pan

Step 2:  Place the saucepan over medium-low heat.

As the milk heats up, stir frequently to dissolve the cocoa powder and sugar and melt the chocolate chips evenly. Continue stirring occasionally until the liquid is completely smooth and comes to a gentle boil.

Step 3:  Remove the pan from the heat and very carefully pour the cocoa into individual mugs.

Top with whipped cream or several marshmallows.

Microwave Chocolate Cake In A Mug

This recipe is quick, easy and absolutely delicious and good enough to serve in a fancy restaurant (but they won't). It takes only about five minutes from start mixing to eating.

You make it in a coffee mug. When it is finished, let it sit for a minute. Then take it out of the mug and slice into two large pieces or 4 smaller pieces.

Into a coffee mug (not a cup) put

1 Egg -- Stir it up before you add the next item
4 Tablespoons of Milk
3 Tablespoons of Oil
A Splash of Vanilla Flavoring

Mix well together with a fork or spoon.

Then add

4 Tablespoons of Flour
4 Tablespoons of Sugar
3 Tablespoons of Hershey's Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

Mix well together.

You can also add chocolate chips or nuts or place either a Hershey's Chocolate Kiss or a Caramel in the top of the mug just before putting it into the microwave. Yummy!

Microwave for 3 minutes.

Cake will rise way above the top of the mug and then come back down.

Leave the cake in the microwave for one full minute to let the cake settle back down.

Eat your cake with cold butter and/or ice cream and/or whipped cream on the cake with a glass of cold milk and ENJOY!
